Graphics Assistant

Kinetic Pixel are a team of technology experts who specialise in designing real-time graphics, studio automation and audience interaction systems for Quizzes and Entertainment shows.  If you’ve got a TV you’ll know at least some of our shows; Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, Pointless, A League Of Their Own, Only Connect, Tenable and Countdown, to name just a few.

We’re the glue that holds these shows together. It’s our technology behind the scenes that tracks the scores, shows the questions, sounds the buzzers and fires the time up klaxons!


We are currently looking for a Freelance Graphics Assistant to work alongside our Graphics team on the Urdd Eisteddfod 2020 in Denbighshire during the May half-term.

Responsibilities and Description of Role

You’ll need to be a fluent Welsh speaker with good basic I.T skills. If you’re a fast learner with a keen interest in teevision production and broadcasting, this is an opportunity to learn the skills needed to assist in supporting a long-running live transmission.

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Following defined workflow to check spelling, grammar, accuracy and consistency of incoming data feeds.
  • Creating studio graphics from templates under direction from the Graphics Operator and Graphics Producer.
  • Following guidelines for written and visual content to ensure that graphics presentation standards are upheld consistently.

Full training in our headquarters near Cardiff will be provided. The right candidate will be rewarded with a competitive daily rate, a long-term commitment of repeat bookings and the opportunity to expand the role through exposure to other productions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • You must be a fluent Welsh speaker.
  • Comprehensive and demonstrable I.T. skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Keen attention to detail. Diligent and accurate reporting of work tasks.
  • Good GCSE, A-level or BTEC equivalent qualifications that include numeracy, language skills and a STEM subject.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.

Desirable skills

  • A basic understanding of television production workflows.
  • Experience of working to deadlines while following established processes.
  • Experience with graphics creation tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Voluntary or professional experience as a technician or stage assistant in a band, theatre or studio environment
  • A full UK driving licence.


£120 – £200 per day plus expenses, owing to experience.
