Junior Project Manager

Kinetic Pixel are a broadcast technology company specialising in supplying real-time graphics, studio automation and audience interaction systems for Television and Live events.  If you’ve got a TV you’ll know at least some of our shows; 5 Gold Rings, Pointless, A League Of Their Own, Only Connect, Insert Name Here and Fifteen To One, to name just a few.

We’re the glue that holds these shows together. It’s our technology behind the scenes that tracks the scores, shows the questions, sounds the buzzers and fires the time up klaxons!


We’re currently looking for a Junior Project Manager to join our team. The right candidate will be a confident communicator with strong organisational skills, a creative approach to problem solving, a passion for technology and the desire to be part of the team bringing some of the world’s biggest Light Entertainment and Game Shows to life.

Responsibilities and Description of Role

Assisting the Project and Operations Managers in the day-to-day running of show systems, planning and management of projects and supporting the testing and installation of broadcast technology systems within the UK and Internationally.

  • Create and deliver project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Identify resources, assign responsibilities and manage day-to-day operational aspects of ongoing projects.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, up-to-date, and appropriately archived and indexed.
  • Work closely with relevant stake holders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the projects and to ensure the project meets the technical and creative brief.
  • Work with developers and designers to define and document questions, liaise with stakeholders to determine new requirements and assess feasibility.
  • Submit project status reports to stakeholders; reviews bugs; plans software releases; anticipate and react to change.
  • Operation of broadcast computer systems during the production schedule, attending studios in the UK and overseas as required.
  • Attend production and technical planning meetings and advising production teams and other departments on the services and technology required to support the creative brief.
  • Manage and training small teams of technicians and operators to ensure complete coverage of all aspects of the system requirements and smooth and complete delivery of projects on-site.

  • HND or Degree qualified in a Media, Computing or Engineering related field.
  • A proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience of Agile project management methodologies.
  • A keen eye for detail with written and graphical content, and the confidence with language and visual skills to advise and give editorial suggestions to production teams when the content affects our standards of delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience acting as part of a project team, understanding the dependencies on other skill sets and the part each member of the team plays in the successful delivery of a project.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working with in a television studio and gallery environment, working with other departments and following direction during the recording or transmission of a production.
  • Experience of the project lifecycle developing bespoke software solutions, and working with development teams to ensure that realistic deliverables can be defined and offered to the client.
  • Experience managing small to medium projects with a timescale of 4-12 weeks.  Demonstrable skills should include requirements capture, resource planning, testing and working with development teams to ensure that realistic deliverables can be defined and offered to the client.
  • Practical time and resource management, reacting to change and an understanding of basic revenue models and how the project deliverables can affect financial objectives and forecasting.

The Operations Manager.

Salary Range

£22,000 to £28,000 p/a owing to experience, plus pension and other benefits.

Location of work

Kinetic Pixel’s offices in Caerphilly. Our office is just 10 minutes’ walk from Caerphilly train station. You may also be required to work on site around the UK and Internationally, so you must hold a full valid Driving Licence and Passport.

Hours of work

37.5 hours a week, typically 9:00AM-5:30PM when office based, but site work will require flexibility depending on the production schedule and workload.
