Richard Osman’s House of Games

Richard Osman’s House of Games challenges four celebrities to a variety of trivia, general knowledge and word games spread across five weeknights. Each game ends with a daily prize winner, and adds points to the leader board to see who will be crowned the weekly champion after Friday’s show.

Our brief from Endemol Shine’s Remarkable label involved over 20 games requiring a mix of complex asset management and playout, quickfire timing of buzzers, iPad telestration systems and a variety of carefully crafted rhymes and riddles requiring careful typesetting and presentation.  Working with the creative team from Creative Nuts during Series 1, and Bomper Studio for Series 2, we turned a small set of static designs into a fluid and flexible animation system to present the games seamlessly and consistently.

Recording five shows per day in The Hospital Club in the heart of Covent Garden meant that the reliability and quality of our game software and hardware was paramount. Each day, a week’s worth of shows are recorded so the celebrity guests are booked for one day only. The fast turnaround, preview systems and production workflows that form the core of our game technology was key to ensuring the production stayed on schedule.

After a well-received first series in September 2017, Richard Osman’s House of Games returns to BBC Two for 50 new shows from 6PM on Monday 28th May 2018.
