Systems Engineering Manager

Kinetic Pixel are a broadcast technology provider specialising in supplying real-time graphics, studio automation and audience interaction systems for Television and Live events. If you’ve got a TV you’ll know at least some of our shows; Saturday Night Takeaway, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Countdown, Pointless and Only Connect, to name just a few.

We’re the glue that holds these shows together. It’s our technology behind the scenes that tracks the scores, shows the questions, sounds the buzzers and fires the time up klaxons!


We’re currently looking for an experienced Systems Engineering Manager to join our growing team. The right candidate will have extensive experience of broadcast, computing and video engineering technologies coupled with a keen interest in emerging technological trends in these areas and the willingness to apply these skills to help bring some of the world’s biggest Light Entertainment and Game Shows to life.

Responsibilities and Description of Role

You’ll be able to quickly comprehend complex issues and propose solutions, and work closely with the creative teams and studio engineering to help deliver their vision.

You’ll need to be prepared to travel, and sometimes work unusual hours – TV doesn’t always get made between 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. We work in locations across the UK and the world, from Birmingham to the Bahamas, so a full UK driving licence and a valid passport are essential. Your responsibilities will include;


  • Extensive Industry Experience and a formal qualification in Broadcast Engineering, Live Events Technology, Media Technology, Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or similar.
  • Comprehensive I.T. skills including installing and configuring Microsoft Windows operating systems and network configuration.
  • Comprehensive skills and experience with video and audio engineering concepts and hands-on experience with hardware such as scan converters, audio and video mixers, distribution amplifiers, switchers, matrices and wireless communications.
  • Demonstrable experience working in TV studios and on OB’s, and a deep understanding of gallery etiquette and production and technical roles.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of an Agile project lifecycle delivering technical solutions
  • Exposure to working with a multi-disciplinary team with programmers, creatives and engineers to ensure that realistic deliverables can be defined and offered to the client.
  • PC Hardware maintenance and build experience.  Specifying matched components, machine assembly, troubleshooting.
  • PC device driver management, especially video card drivers, EDID emulation, colour space, resolution and refresh rate management.

Location of work

Kinetic Pixel’s offices in Caerphilly. Our office is just 10 minutes’ walk from Caerphilly train station. You may also be required to work on site around the UK and Internationally, so you must hold a full valid Driving Licence and Passport.

Hours of work

37.5 hours a week, typically 9:00AM-5:30PM when office based, but site work will require flexibility depending on the production schedule and workload.
